The new tyre configuration rules will become effective from October 1, 2022. AIS-142:2019 Stage 2 is obligatory for C1, C2, and C3 classification tyres. From April 1, 2023, having such tyres in new vehicles will be obligatory. According to the Automotive Indian Standards (AIS), the quality and plan of the tyres of the vehicle will presently be according to AIS-142:2019.

What is C1, C2 and C3 ?
