A few weeks before its scheduled global debut at Auto Expo 2023, the much-anticipated Maruti Suzuki Jimny 5-door, also known as Jimny long or Suzuki YWD, has been spotted in what appears to be its final production form.
The Jimny 5-door will have a longer wheelbase and the K15B gasoline engine. It will likely have two different gearbox options.
The Jimny 5-door appears to be undergoing the final round of tests without camouflage, as seen in North India. This is the first time the Jimny 5-door has been seen, and what we see here shows that, aside from having two more doors, a bigger bodyshell, and a longer wheelbase, it may not look much different from the 3-door version. The global Jimny, also known as the Jimny Sierra, is the basis for the Jimny 5-door, which features fender flares and chunky alloy wheels.
The Jimny 5-door is clearly much longer than its 3-door counterpart, as seen in these images in its well-known exterior paint shade of “Kinetic Yellow.” The wheelbase of the Jimny 5-door is expected to be around 3,850 millimeters, 300 millimeters longer than the 2,250 millimeter wheelbase of the 3-door model. Due to a large-ish quarter glass for the rear door, the newly designed door for passengers in the second row has a much smaller “usable” rear glass area than the Jimny’s boxy body style. The extended section that is located behind the rear door is also brand-new and features a special glass area that is surrounded at both corners by thick pillars. The rear of the Jimny 5-door retains the same side-opening door with exposed hinges, a door-mounted spare tire covered in black, and the same rear bumper and taillamp design as the Jimny 3-door. There are no significant changes to the vehicle’s exterior styling
